Our Journey: Four Decades of Expertise in Building
Tom Lizzio’s career spans nearly 40 years in the building, home renovation and finance industries. As an entrepreneur and starting his first business as a Builder and General Contractor in the 1980s, he transitioned into the lending side of the business as a loan officer in 1993, specializing in new construction financing. Over time, Tom grew into key leadership roles, including sales manager, branch manager, and owner/partner at First Republic Mortgage, based in Annapolis, Maryland. During his tenure, he played an integral role in helping the company expand from a small broker to a mid-sized correspondent lender in the DC Metro Area, and later assisted in it’s sale to a prominent Builder/Development Company in 2005.
Building Strong Relationships
In addition to his work in mortgage and real estate, Tom has worked on hundreds of building and real estate transactions, always focusing on cultivating strong relationships within the industry. He is deeply passionate about coaching and mentoring, having led seminars and Continuing Education classes for the real estate community, and has been a strong advocate for home building and renovation. His career has allowed him to leverage both his financial expertise and construction knowledge, a combination that serves his clients well today. He takes great pride in mentoring young talent, helping them build successful careers and businesses to pursue their passion in the industry.
Transition to Home Building
Tom transitioned into home building in 2010, focusing on his own Custom Home Building Company. Specializing in building homes on undeveloped lots and teardowns across five Maryland counties, he also launched a company dedicated to Design/Build remodeling services. With a wealth of experience in both finance and construction, Tom now focuses on providing comprehensive consulting services across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and the beaches of Ocean City Delaware.
Commitment to Excellence
Tom’s dedication goes beyond his professional life. He began coaching girls’ basketball when his three daughters showed interest in the sport, guiding them from club level through high school and coaching them in competitive AAU basketball. Alongside his passion for coaching, Tom was a member of the Professional Bowlers Tour and continues to compete at the highest levels in the sport. His competitive spirit drives him in all of his personal and professional endeavors, motivating him to constantly strive for excellence. Tom is also deeply committed to giving back to the community, as one of the original founding members of the Mickey Steele Foundation and an early member and supporter for Fish 4 A Cure, organizations that raise millions of dollars for vital causes. Along with fulfilling all of these passions, Tom enjoys spending time at the beach and around town in Annapolis with his wife Lynn, with whom he has shared over 40 wonderful years of marriage.
